Winter Vay-cay

We decided we needed one more family vacation before #3 came along.  The boys have been wanting to go to Sea World so San Diego was our destination.  Graham immediately packed his backpack, put it on, and was ready to go.

Both boys and mom were excited to see the ocean again.  Beckett had a blast playing in the water until a wave knocked him over.  That was the end of loving the ocean for this boy.

Little brother could hardly contain his excitement to see the ocean.  He hadn't been to the beach since he was six months old.  After running onto the beach and seeing the waves rolling in he stopped suddenly and declared he didn't like the ocean because it's scary.  This face pretty much sums up his concern.

We stayed in La Jolla and had a great time exploring the cove.

Beckett was really into posing.  I think these are superhero moves he is showing us.  He had to look "awesome" for the camera.

Nana and Papa came with us on this adventure.  They were a great help to a tired mom and the boys loved being with them.  Jeremy appreciated the nightly baby sitters so we could have some nights out.

Beckett has discovered amusement rides, therefore whenever they are present that is the main attraction.  Luckily Sea World had a few rides to offer him.  Nana loves rides so she was happy to ride with the boys.

Because of Beckett's love of amusement rides LegoLand was a big hit.  We had never been before and I have to admit it's pretty amazing what they can build with Legos.  We traveled the world miniature style.

Mom got to got to go on a few rides.  I'm pretty sure Beckett inherited his love of amusement parks from me so it was only fair that I got to indulge a little.  Graham had a blast too.

Unfortunately little guy was too little for many of the rides.  Look at this sad face.  If only they judged age appropriateness for rides on vocabulary instead of height.

Animals are another favorite at our house so we had to go to the zoo.

One of our date nights.  I thought the outside was impressive but the inside is way better.

We persuaded Graham to give the ocean another try.

Dad showed the little guy all the fun that could be had and Graham caved.  Once he started playing, there was no stopping him. He had a blast chasing the waves and running away from them.  We got some great video of him laughing.

Then there was the inevitable wave that knocked him down.  He did a face plant into the water and sand.  That was the end of his love of the ocean.

Fortunately there was a playground at this beach too so the boys could continue to play while we enjoyed the beach.

We decided to spend a little time in St. George on our way home.

The boys got to do some rock climbing.

Jeremy tried some moves my brothers showed him.

St. George now has this cute carousel downtown.

Usually a trip to St. George includes time with cousins.  Some of the cousins have moved so we now get to play with them a little closer to home.  Luckily we still have lots of great family to enjoy down south.

January

Are we having a winter this year?  I'm not really sure.  This snowman is the only thing that may prove there actually was a January.

Other than not playing in the snow, our January was filled with preschool, cars, the memory game and construction.  Graham finished his semester at The Little Gym.  Beckett has mastered the Superhero memory game, Jeremy has learned some new skills, and Stacia's belly continues to expand.

The Reason for the Season

I Love Christmas.  This December I found myself continually grateful for two wonderful blessings in my life: a knowledge of our Savior, and my wonderful family.  It is so great to have a whole month dedicated to our Lord Jesus Christ and the spirit and love he brought to the earth.  I found my joy multiplied throughout the season because my boys are such a fabulous age to talk about the reason for the season and do so many fun things associated with Christmas.  I now it is now 2012 and Christmas is past, but I must record some of our favorite Christmas memories.
Picking our Christmas tree.  This isn't the one we picked, just a good little photo op.
Graham thoroughly enjoyed all the Christmas lights this season
I love living so close to temple square at Christmas.  We toured the square this year with nana, papa, uncle Jake and uncle Ty.

We attended the Christmas play "Toyland" at the children's theater.  Graham was scared, but Beckett loved it.  He got so caught up in the moment that he forgot he didn't like Santa.  When the play was over he ran up to sit on Santa's lap for the first time in his life.

Our first gingerbread house

Here are some of the best Nativity performers you have ever seen.

For the fist time in Beckett's life he asked for a specific present, a Batman train set.  He doesn't like Santa but he wanted to ensure his request would be filled so he wrote his letter and sat on Santa's lap.  Santa came through, and just as I suspected, he has hardly played with the thing.

Graham just wanted a donut for Christmas

The Day after Christmas I took the boys to St. George to hang out with nana and the great grandma and grandpa Boyer.

Turkey Month

We spent our November talking about gratitude, blessings, and doing multiple activities.

I can't remember if these cookies were supposed to be leaves of Turkey feathers.  Whatever.  They were fun.
These boys love Teddy Bear, Quackers and George.

We went to the zoo the day before Thanksgiving to pick out our turkey.  Not really, but on Thanksgiving when I told Graham we were going to eat turkey he said we needed to go to the zoo and get it.  He didn't seem to feel at all bad about eating a zoo animal.
